November 1998 Welcome to XPert Tools Volume Two! QuarkXPress 3.2, 3.3, 3.31, 3.32 or 4.03 or later must be installed on the Macintosh in order for proper installation of XPert Tools Volume Two. Installing XPert Tools for use with QuarkXPress 3.x When the “XPert Tools Volume Two (for QuarkXPress 3.x)” package is being installed, the installer will ask you to locate a copy of QuarkXPress 3.x (the installer will NOT allow you to install to copies of QuarkXPress 4.x). When using XPert Tools Volume Two with QuarkXPress 3.x we recommend a minimum memory partition of eight megabytes for QuarkXPress. Installing XPert Tools for use with QuarkXPress 4.x XPert Tools Volume Two are now native QuarkXPress 4.0 optimized XTensions. When the “XPert Tools Volume Two (for QuarkXPress 4.x)” package is being installed, the installer will ask you to locate a copy of QuarkXPress 4.x or greater (the installer will NOT allow you to install to copies of QuarkXPress earlier than 4.x). Please note that native 4.x optimized XTensions will not work with QuarkXPress 3.x (they will crash). When using XPert Tools Volume Two with QuarkXPress 4.x we recommend a minimum memory partition of fifteen megabytes for QuarkXPress. Known Problems If either "auto save" or "auto backup" preferences are turned on in QuarkXPress, all entries within XPert JobLog will get lost. The problem is within QuarkXPress and we are working with their engineers on how to solve the problem. (Technically speaking, QuarkXPress is not preserving the document's resource fork when "auto save" or "auto backup" is activated.)
